Issue Position: Gun Violence Prevention

Issue Position

When a mass shooting claims the lives of Americans, legislators often respond by offering their thoughts and prayers. While this would be an admirable response from a private citizen, I believe that the people of East Texas deserve a representative who is willing to move beyond thoughts and prayers and take action. Rather than focusing on what we cannot accomplish, I prefer to focus on what we can -- a bipartisan, facts-based inquiry into the issue of gun violence. I am committed to working across the aisle to find common-sense solutions that will keep Texans safe, without infringing on the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment.
